We get it – starting something new especially when it comes to your health can feel a little nerve-wracking. If you’ve booked an appointment with an Exercise Physiologist (EP) at Canberra Allied Health, here’s exactly what to expect.
Our EPs are university-qualified health professionals who specialise in using movement as medicine. We’re here to support your strength, function, mobility, and confidence -whether you’re managing a condition, recovering from injury, or just looking to feel better in your body.
Your First Appointment: Step-by-Step
1. Getting to Know You
We’ll chat about your health history, any injuries or medical conditions, your goals, lifestyle, and what movement currently looks like for you (or doesn’t- and that’s okay!).
2. Movement Assessment
We’ll gently assess things like posture, balance, mobility, strength, or specific movements related to your concern. No intense workouts here – just a chance to learn what your body needs.
3. Planning Together
Your EP will work with you to develop a personalised plan. This might include:
- A tailored home or gym-based program
- Pain management strategies
- Strength, mobility, or rehab goals
- Recommendations for frequency, type, and progressions for your current movement
4. Questions Welcome
We encourage you to ask anything -there are no silly questions. Our goal is for you to feel confident and supported every step of the way.
Why Choose Canberra Allied Health?

Taking that first step is the hardest part. If you’re ready to move better, feel stronger, or manage a health condition with confidence, we’d love to support you.
