Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university qualified movement specialists and study how movement affects the human body. They use a combination of movement, lifestyle modification, education and support to create individualised evidence based treatment plans. At Canberra Allied Health our Exercise Physiologists take a holistic approach to care and take the time to get to know you and determine how they can best assist you on your journey. They work with a range of chronic health conditions and injuries and work to support, treat and prevent them.
When we say exercise physiology it doesn’t always mean that our focus needs to be getting you back into the gym or rehabilitation of an injury. It could also look at getting you moving for life, to help make everyday activities like walking the dog, gardening or spending time with your kids or grand-children more achievable.
In summary we truly believe that exercise is MEDICINE.
Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists have extensive experience in a broad range of clinical conditions, including:
- Weight management,
- Bariatric surgery support
- Chronic pain
- Neurological disorders,
- Vestibular conditions,
- Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and
- Women’s health, including endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, POTS and pelvic floor dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain
Our exercise studio at our Aranda clinic offers a tranquil environment for exercise testing, prescription, 1:1 training and group classes. Our facilities are not a classic gym, but rather a yoga and pilates studio that we transform into an exercise class environment. Many clients report feeling calm in our space and less intimidated than they would expect to feel in a gym environment.
