Weight and obesity management has been a core part of Canberra Allied Health since our clinic was established, and we have developed a team-wide area of expertise in this important area of healthcare.
Our dietitians have extensive experience in weight and metabolic health management, including nutrition for bariatric surgery, Optifast, weight loss medications and GLP-1 therapies. We support clients with the practical challenges that can come with managing weight, appetite, food choices and lifestyle changes, while considering the broader factors that influence health and wellbeing.
Our approach is holistic and multidisciplinary. We recognise that sustainable weight management involves much more than nutrition and exercise alone. Sleep, stress, psychology, physical activity, medications, eating behaviours and individual circumstances can all influence a person’s health and their ability to make lasting changes.
Our team includes dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists and health coaches who work collaboratively to support different aspects of weight and metabolic health. This allows us to provide personalised care at different stages of a person’s journey, from building healthy habits and improving metabolic health through to supporting clients before and after bariatric surgery or while using weight loss medications such as GLP-1s.
Our goal is to provide practical, evidence-based care that supports sustainable improvements in health, wellbeing and quality of life, not simply a number on the scales.
